Inspired by the love of cheese, Crystal McKenzie opened the doors to Peasant Cheese Shop in October 2013. Once inside, you’re not only greeted by the pleasant staff but a wave of delicious scents from over 100 different selections of cheeses from around the world.

Whether it’s a top seller like Comté, from the regions of Eastern France, the Chateau du Bourgogne, with its decadent interior which holds a buttery aroma mixed with a hint of nuttiness, or Le 1608, Peasant Cheese’s extensive list offers something for every palate.

“For our customers who regularly host dinner parties, or are all around cheese lovers, we have our cheese club. The first Friday of every month, we deliver three of our favourite cheeses, which we curate with crackers and dried fruits or nuts and pair them with the cheese options”

Community building was the inspiration behind launching the Cheese Club, and the reason why Crystal had her eye on Kensington to set up shop.

“My first choice was Kensington. It’s a neighbourhood filled with wonderful people, and we were adopted so quickly. We want to know all of our customers on a first name basis, and always look for opportunities to collaborate and support our neighbouring businesses”

For those looking to liven their taste buds, on the last Friday of every month, Peasant Cheese and Kensington Wine Market have collaborated to bring, “Cheese Please” which features a wine tasting from Kensington Wine Market’s extensive collection combined with a variety of cheeses from Peasant Cheese.
